From 16.2.-17.2. Awareness about air quality was raised at our school thanks to the LIFE IP – Improving Air Quality project. This project focuses on the implementation of concrete measures to improve air quality and also supports education, communication and monitoring activities in the field of air quality and air protection. The project was accompanied by the project manager Ms. M.Valašková, who had prepared an engaging presentation and activities focused on air quality in our school surroundings. The project was implemented in selected classes IX.NA, VII.SVA and V.FA. Pupils learned a lot of new information, such as:
– What are the hazardous air pollutants.
– How air quality can affect human health.
– What are the biggest sources of pollution
– How is the Žilina Region compared to the Bratislava Region
– Do we have air pollution indicators in our neighborhood schools?… The outdoor activity was also fun – the pupils’ task was to take a picture in the prepared frames of something that harms our air and, on the contrary, what benefits it. The results were then evaluated by the pupils in class and the best photos were awarded. Do you remember the short questionnaire that was sent out via the edupage platform- How do you get to school? You can see how we did from the results coming soon in our new edition of The Econews.
Thank you for the prepared presentation and activities and we look forward to the implementation of further activities.
