Today we experienced a field trip to Christmas in Krakow with our 6th and 8th graders. The city was beautifully decorated, the Christmas markets smelled of traditional Polish delicacies. The atmosphere in the Main Square (Rynek Główny) was like a fairytale.
We also visited Wawel Castle, where we admired the majestic cathedral and the famous Zygmunt Bell. The children didn’t miss the opportunity to touch its heart with their left hand and make their secret wish – who knows, maybe it will come true soon! In front of the cathedral we also spotted the bones of a mammoth, which according to legend protects the castle and the whole town.
The weather was a bit chilly, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying this winter fairy tale. We ended our day of exploration with a view of the beautifully lit Krakow and now we are eagerly awaiting the real Christmas.
