12. and on 13 June 2024 I took part in the national round of the Štúrov Zvolen competition. We slept in the school dormitory and had meals provided. All the organisers were very helpful and went out of their way to help us when we needed it. Upon arrival at the accommodation we had a short workshop. We tried improvisation, but we also learned some exercises to improve articulation. The next day the competition itself took place in the beautiful premises of Zvolen Castle. The opening ceremony was accompanied by an artistic performance. My category had a recital in the ceremonial hall, which gave the whole competition a glitzy atmosphere. In the first part, we presented our home-prepared reflections, but the second part was the most decisive for the judges. We were assigned a topic and we had to create an essay and then present it. Even though we all had a lot of stress, it was obvious how many talented kids came to compete. After lunch we had only the evaluation and I received the Ludovít Štúr Regional Library Award and a small gift. I think it was a very good experience for me and I will use the knowledge I gained there in the future.
